Evo Trace CO2

The EVO-TRACE CO2 is a laboratory instrument used to monitor carbon dioxide changes due to microbial growth in the container headspace, which has the advantage of detecting contamination in products and packaging where visual inspection is impossible. It checks the presence of microorganisms in products subjected to quarantine by measuring trace CO2 concentrations in the headspace of containers. The measurement is based on laser spectroscopy, a non-destructive and non-invasive method, and provides information on CO2 presence. Contamination of products, which induces an increase in CO2 content, often creates the most significant microbiological problem in dairy products. Therefore, CO2 measurement can be used as an indication of spoilage of dairy products.

Standard process verification relies on detecting spoilage from a limited number of product packages using traditional, time-consuming culture-based methods. Various scientific studies have shown that the EVO-TRACE CO2 can rapidly assay products for contamination, with a typical time to detection (TTD) of 24 hours when a product is contaminated with 1 CFU/mL.
